The Industry Programme
The Industry Programme which provides energy advice and a support programme for industry will be continued in 2009. Mentoring, training, advice and information is provided to approximately 1,000 SMEs per year, with many achieving 20% energy cost savings as a result. Technical and specialised support and advice is provided to large industry working towards the highest energy efficiency work practices.
Low Carbon Commerical Buildings Programme
A Low Carbon Commercial Buildings Programme will be developed in 2009 and will be similar to the Low Carbon Homes Programme above, but targeted at the commercial buildings market.
Greenbusiness.ie
The EPA has developed the “greenbusiness.ie” project, designed to help SME’s become more resource efficient. Greenbusiness.ie hosts web-based tools enabling businesses to carry out water and waste audits, and to identify “no and low-cost” efficiency measures that they can put in place to become more business efficient by reducing their environmental impact. The site also integrates with Sustainable Energy Ireland’s “Energy Map” programme, and will also integrate with the Change.ie carbon management tool. Greenbusiness.ie users can also request free resource efficiency visits from trained consultants, with the aim of generating even further savings.(www.greenbusiness.ie )
The Local Authority Prevention Demonstration Programme (LAPD)
The Local Authority Prevention Demonstration Programme (LAPD) is tackling the challenge of resource efficiency in partnership with businesses, public organisations and communities in their areas. The LAPD Programme, which is an initiative of the National Waste Prevention Programme, is providing financial and technical support to the local authorities involved to assist them in this task. The experience and case studies generated by the LAPD Programme will be used to implement further waste prevention initiatives on completion of the LAPD Programme. (www.lapd.ie )
